Job Responsibilities
Manages the daily activities of staff engaged in both property valuation and the creation, maintenance, and modification of digital land records and data. Supervises the assessment of the true cash value of all classes of real and personal property, as well as the completion of parcel splits and combinations. Ensures the accuracy and accessibility of landbase records, appraisals, and related documentation for individuals, businesses, local government units, and other public and private users. This position also ensures compliance with State property tax statutes, the Michigan Assessor's Manual, and relevant cadastral mapping and GIS standards. The candidate must be proficient in commercial and industrial appraisal.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Civil Engineering, or a related field, with specific training in property appraisal and mapping and at least three years of experience in commercial and industrial property appraisal administration or land records management, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Knowledge of GIS methodologies and software applications preferred. Certified Mapping Specialist designation from the International Association of Assessing Officers is a plus. State of Michigan Advanced Assessing Officer (Level III)
